This guide has information for how we name our files to ensure consistency in our combined output as a company, and make it easy for clients to understand the files they receive from us.
Refer to Sending files to clients for more information on what to do with your final output.
File Name anatomy
Job Number - Client Name - File Name - Version - Platform
- Job Number - The 6 number for the job (eg. 50078)
- Client Name - The name of the client (eg. Evolve, NAG, NHS, BCP)
- Job Name - The name of the job from Teamwork (eg. Brand refresh & activation, Case Study Videos)
- File name - appropriate naming for the file, detailed but short.
- Version - Incrementing v1, v2 for client revisions, and doing sub-increments Vx.1 and Vx.2 for internal revisions (re-renders, tweaks, and anything internal before the client sees it).
Tip
You can directly copy the
Job Number
,Client Name
, andJob Name
from the job folder or the job name on Teamwork (they should be the exact same)
Internal version numbers
Add in a decimal point when you have made internal edits. For example, we supply v2, then someone internally checks it and makes a suggestion/edit, so the next version becomes v2.1, v2.2, etc. until it is sent to the client.
